The Coolest Automotive Subaru Impreza 2,5i Sedan 2008

The 2008 automotive Subaru Impreza is offered in four models: 2.5i, Outback Sport, WRX, and WRX STI. This report covers the 2.5i and Outback Sport, which come with all-wheel drive and a horizontally opposed 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2.5i is offered as either a four-door sedan or four-door hatchback. The Outback Sport is only a hatchback. The flat four in the 2.5i and Outback Sport models makes 170 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission is optional ($1000).

The automotive Subaru Impreza lineup is redesigned for 2008, getting bigger and more refined in the process. A four-door sedan body style remains, but a four-door hatchback replaces the previous generation's wagon body style. Base Impreza and Outback Sport models return, as do the high-performance WRX and even higher performance WRX STI. This report covers the Impreza and Outback Sport; another NewCarTestDrive.com report covers the related WRX and STi models.

The automotive Subaru Impreza also has a handling advantage versus several competitors. Advanced suspension geometry, a platform built to host the high-performance WRX models, and a low center of gravity thanks to the boxer engine all add up to crisp handling with little body lean in corners. And yet, the Impreza also offers a comfortable ride.

Inside, the automotive Subaru Impreza is nicely appointed, with a look and feel that would be appropriate for a car costing thousands more. The gauges are easy to read, and there is plenty of storage space for small items. The front seat has enough head room and leg room for tall drivers, and visibility is good to all corners. The back seat is impressive for a compact car, with enough leg room for tall passengers provided the front seats aren't set too far back.

Roger from Denver

"I drove an automotive subaru base model with automatic. This car is pure pleasure.Recently, I drove it to from denver to Yellowstone national park on memorial day weekend. On a hilly, snowy, rainy and slippery conditions, this car performed amazingly well.On the trip from Denver to Yellowstone, I set up cruise control around 65-70 and averaged around 33 on the highway. While returning to Denver, it rained heavily,I constantly touched 70-75 without cruise control and got a highway mileage of 30. In city driving, I get around 30.This car is great in Winter.I feel very safe in it.The manufacturer's website says that we get a 20-27 MPG in city/highway,but I have never got less than 28-29 in city.In highways I get 30-35.Seat material is a plus..I really love this car. Best value car for Money."

The Coolest Automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2008

Introduced in 2003, the current and the coolest automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class sports classy and aggressive styling, with a rising beltline that gives the car a stance like that of a crouching feline. Currently, the sedans come in four trim levels: the turbodiesel E320 Bluetec (208 horsepower), the gasoline V6-powered E350 (268 hp), the V8-powered E550 (382 hp) and the pavement-scorching E63 AMG, which boasts a 507-hp, 6.3-liter V8. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system can be had on the E350 and E550 sedans. E-Class wagons are offered in E350 4Matic and E63 AMG trims. All models are equipped with an automatic transmission. Rear-drive E-Class cars have seven-speed automatics, while the 4Matics have five-speed units.

The coolest automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a luxurious sedan that has a refined interior, multiple capable engine options, and confident handling. Long a favorite in the midsize luxury sport sedan segment, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has provided comfort, performance and safety for decades. The trademark qualities of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, such as vaultlike solidity and leading-edge technology, have also contributed to the E-Class's great popularity among luxury sedan and wagon buyers.

The 2008 automotive Mercedes Benz E Class is a superior blend of sport and luxury in a four-door sedan. The E-Class sedans and wagons are solid, safe, comfortable, luxurious, and fast.

The overall design of the automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class has always been understated yet elegant. The interiors of the early models were comfortable but hardly lavish. Only with the more recent models have the cabins grown luxurious, with generous helpings of leather, wood and chrome trim throughout.

Rear-wheel drive automotive Mercedes Benz E-Class sedans are available in four models, the E320 BLUETEC, E350, E550, and E63 AMG. The E350 and E63 AMG are available as wagons and the E350 and E550 are also available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive models include a seven-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC models include a five-speed automatic. A 3.0-liter 210-hp turbo-diesel V6 engine drives the E320 BlueTEC and a 268-hp, 3.5-liter gasoline V6 engine powers the E350. The E550 has a 382-hp, 5.5-liter V8 engine under its hood while the E63 AMG has a 507-hp, 6.3-liter V8 with AMG speedshift. The wagons in the class seat up to seven, while the sedans seat five. Multi-zone climate control is standard and all models come with a lengthy list of standard features.

The elegant and capable automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan resides at the center of the extensive Mercedes-Benz passenger-car line. It strikes a nice balance between luxury and performance, with a bit more brand cachet than the Asian imports can deliver. A wide model selection ranges from a fuel-frugal, diesel-powered E320 Bluetec Sedan to a tire-smoking, high-performance AMG variant. There are amply powered V6 and V8 E-Class versions offered. Ride and handling characteristics in most versions favor comfort over bone-jarring performance. The E550 Sedan and the E63 AMG Sedan include an Airmatic air suspension, with four different ride modes that maximize either a softer ride or a responsive feel. The E-Class Sedan comes with plenty of safety features, including Mercedes' Pre-Safe collision mitigation system. Many of the latest high-tech features are options.

Base List Price : $52,200 - $85,300

The automotive Mercedes-Benz E-Class is definitely showing its age. The strength of the brand and relatively high resale values allow Mercedes to charge more than most of its competitors, and to nickel-and-dime buyers on some basic options like the folding backseat, leather, bi-xenon headlights, parking sonar and heated seats. At this size and price, the E-Class has a lot of competition apart from the European models I concentrated on, including the Acura TL and RL and the Cadillac CTS and STS. A choice of engines, transmissions and drivelines are becoming the norm, so this old dog will need to learn some new tricks soon if it wants to keep up with the pack.

The Coolest Automotive Toyota FJ Cruiser 2009

Automotive FJ Cruiser primairly competes with the Nissan Exterra, Jeep Wrangler and the Honda Element. Many enthusiasts of the original FJ series Land Cruisers have been very vocal in their opposition to the new vehicle, decrying not only its long wheelbase, but its lack of both a diesel engine and solid front axle as well. At 183.9 inches in length, the FJ Cruiser slots between the smaller RAV4 (181.1 in. overall length; originally rumored to be replaced by the FJ Cruiser) and the mid-size Highlander (184.6 in. overall length).

The addition of the FJ Cruiser adds a sixth SUV in Toyota's American lineup, meaning Toyota will have two compact SUVs (the RAV4 and FJ Cruiser), two mid-size SUVs (Highlander and 4 Runner), and two full-size SUVs (Land Cruiser and Sequoia). It is also Toyota's only vehicle in its current lineup to use the name "TOYOTA" spelled out across the grille like older Land Cruiser models such as the classic FJ40 the automotive FJ Cruiser is loosely based on, as well as other Toyota models from the past.

The automotive FJ Cruiser is the modern reincarnation of the legendary "FJ" series of Toyota's Land Cruiser. The old FJ 4x4 was known for its rugged capabilities and durability and has become a very popular classic SUV. In keeping with its 40 year-old namesake, the eye-catching FJ Cruiser delivers solid off-road performance and ranks near the middle of its class.

If you want to stand out from the crowd and can live with some interior nits, the new FJ is a solid choice. Upon its introduction, the automotive of Toyota FJ Cruiser quickly wowed critics with its out-of-this-world looks and impressive off-roading performance. In fact, it ranks highly when compared to other off road SUV’s It also rates well in on-pavement driving. The Washington Post calls the FJ "a motorized conundrum, a marvelous bit of engineering at once simple and complicated, capable of conquering the most inhospitable terrain but actually designed to appeal to the outdoor fantasies of the urban elite." Still, the retroo-styled SUV's low points are a cramped rear seat, poor visibility and sub-standard interior materials.

Automotive FJ Cruiser does exactly what it's supposed to do: excel as a top-notch off-roading machine. But it's a decent enough performer on the pavement -- even though others in the class have smoother rides and quieter engines -- and its performance ranks in the top half of the class.

The 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser midsize SUV comes in one body style, essentially a two-door SUV with a pair of smaller, reverse-opening doors behind the standard front ones. There is a single trim level that comes with 17-inch black steel wheels, a two-tone exterior paint scheme, air-conditioning, a six-speaker CD/MP3 stereo, power windows and locks, eight-way manual adjustment for the driver seat and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Options include a convenience package that includes keyless entry, power side mirrors, cruise control, rear privacy glass and rear park assist. There are also two "Upgrade" packages that add features such as alloy wheels, a locking rear differential, an upgraded audio system with a six-CD changer and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a 115-volt power outlet, active traction control (4WD models only) and an information display that includes a compass and inclinometer. A Garmin portable navigation system that mounts above the gauges is now available. This year's new All-Terrain package in automotive toyota FJ Cruiser includes special 16-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, Bilstein shock absorbers, an additional engine air filter and a locking rear differential that's optimized with the stability control system for better rock-crawling performance.

This is the one of consumer review :

  • Jacklyn from Utah

  • "I bought my automotive Toyota FJ Cruiser 2008 last oct 2007. Have had nothing but fun since. But mine is stock. First time I've had a rear locker and there is no where I can't go. Don't have a lift have't needed one. West Utah desert and San Raphel Desert are my best stomping grounds. Wife loves to drive it to work. Only real draw back is that the gas tank could be bigger. 20 mpg and 19 gal don't last long Would buy another one."

The automotive Toyota FJ Cruiser is definitely a better deal than its main rivals if true off-road ability is your thing. Of course, its extroverted looks mean it will also be popular among urban poseurs too, even though its hard plastic interior and blind driving position make it an annoying vehicle to take to the mall parking lot. However, whatever practicality it offers is welcome if the FJ is expected to pull double-duty as a weekend runner as well as a weekday commuter.
